Time Activity
8:00 Saint-Petersburg Disembark, go through the customs, meet your guide and start for the panoramic city tour. During the city tour you will have stops for picture taking and short walks in the most picturesque and famous venues, such as: Spit of Vassilievsky Island with the famous Rostral columns, Egyptian Sphinx embankment, the Aurora cruiser, St.Isaac`s Square, Field of Mars, Theatre Square with the world famous Mariinsky theatre, St.Nicholas Naval Cathedral, Nevsky prospect, Kazan Cathedral and many more.
Once St.Petersburg museums start opening their doors to visitors, your guide will take you to Peter and Paul Fortress - the birth place of the city. The date of its foundation is the official birthday of St. Petersburg. The Fortress, that once was constructed as the only correct fortification structure in Russia, served as political prison and was known as "the Russian Bastille" through centuries. Nowadays the fortress is the museum of St.Petersburg history and the main venue of celebrations, performances and events, such as powerboat Formula-1 marathon, 42-hour Jazz marathon, Sand Castles and Ice sculpture exhibitions, etc. You will have a tour of the fortress territory and an inside visit to Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, that serves as a burial vault for all the Romanov-tsars starting from Peter the Great.

11:30 One more must-see sight is St.Isaac`s Cathedral, where a striking beauty of a Russian Orthodox church is combined with grandeur of the world`s 4th largest cupola structure, that was the principal cathedral of all the Russia before the revolution.

12:30 Saint-Petersburg We offer you a fixed-menu lunch at a traditional Russian restaurant which will serve as an introduction to another side of the Russian culture - traditional Russian cuisine.

14:00 It goes without saying, that no tour of St.Petersburg can skip the world-famous collection of the Hermitage museum. This most famous museum of Russia occupies 5 buildings in the historic city centre (the Winter Palace, Small Hermitage, Old Hermitage, New Hermitage, Hermitage Theatre) and also has exhibition halls in other districts of the city as well as abroad. A highlight tour of the Hermitage will take you to the reception rooms and throne halls of the Winter Palace (the former official winter-time residence of the Romanov-tsars) as well as to the most famous masterpieces of the West European Art collections (old masters, Impressionists, Postimpressionists). This visit will provide you a very good idea of the Hermitage treasures.

16:30 Saint-Petersburg Last but not least for this day - you will have a tour of Church on the Blood (Resurrection Cathedral). Built as a memorial church dedicated to Alexander II (the tsar who abolished serfdom in Russia), this church now represents the world`s largest museum of mosaics. Outside the traditional Russian onion domes make this church the most un-St.Petersburg-like structure, but wait until you get inside - every inch is covered with mosaics!

17:00 Some shopping time.

18:00 Return on board the ship.

Optional: Evening activities: a classic Russian ballet performance, Folk Show "Feel Yourself Russian" or Dinner in a Russian home. You can also opt for an evening walking tour in St.Petersburg downtown or adding more shopping time.

DAY 2

Time Activity
9:00 meet your guide at the ship-side, continue St.Petersburg tours.
The second day is dedicated to outside the city tours - You will visit two former Imperial residences, that make up "a pearl necklace around St.Petersburg".

10:00 Saint-Petersburg Our first major visit is the spectacular Catherine Palace. This palace was built and named for Catherine I, wife of Peter the Great. The Catherine Palace was enhanced by daughter, Elizabeth I. Later the palace was renovated again by Catherine II (the Great).
The Catherine Palace is home of the world famous "Amber Room". The Amber Room has only been available for viewing in the last few years after the government spent many years of painstaking reconstruction of the gift of Frederick the Great. It is assumed that the original version of this amazing room was stolen by the Nazis during World War II. This palace is located is in the village of Pushkin (named for the famous poet). The area is also called Tzarskoe Selo or "Village of the Tsars".

13:15 Saint-Petersburg Our visit is to Peterhof, considered by many to be the "Crown Jewel" of sights in all of Russia. Built by Peter I, the palace is magnificent by itself, but combined with the gardens and the fountains, it truly is a wonder. Today, the Peterhof fountain ensemble consists of over 150 fountains and four cascades. You will have an overview tour of the gardens that will take you to the most magnificent and interesting fountains and cascade of the Peterhof fountain parks.

16:30 Return on board the ship.
